With over 25 years of experience in fastener production and export sales, we operate our own manufacturing plant and our products are exported to over 50 countries. We are professional experts in bolts, nuts, washers, anchor bolts, and customized fasteners.

The 140th Canton Fair will take place in Guangzhou from October 15 to November 4, 2026, in three phases. Hardware and tools are among the fair’s product categories, making the event a timely opportunity for buyers to explore suppliers of bolts, nuts and other fastening products.

For buyers sourcing hot-dip galvanized bolts, however, comparing product prices is only one part of the process. Before placing a bulk order, it is important to confirm the fastener standard, material and property class, coating requirements, thread fit, inspection documents and delivery arrangements.

This guide outlines the key questions buyers should ask when sourcing hot-dip galvanized bolts and nuts for construction, steel structures and other demanding applications.

1. Confirm the Fastener Standard and Product Dimensions

Start with the exact product specification—not just a general description such as “galvanized hex bolt.”

Confirm details such as:

  • Product type: hex bolt, hex nut, threaded rod, anchor bolt or another fastener
  • Applicable product standard, such as DIN or ISO
  • Nominal diameter and length
  • Thread type and pitch
  • Head style and dimensions
  • Whether washers or matching nuts are required

For example, a buyer requesting a hex bolt should specify the required standard and dimensions, rather than relying on a product photo or a general size range. This helps the supplier check whether the bolt, nut and washer are compatible and whether the requested item matches the application.

2. Specify the Material and Mechanical Property Class

The bolt’s material and mechanical property class should match the design and service requirements of the project. Buyers should confirm the requested property class for bolts and the required class for the matching nuts, along with any material or testing requirements.

Do not assume that two bolts with the same dimensions have the same mechanical performance. The purchase order should clearly state the required product standard, property class, material requirements and inspection criteria.

Where the application involves structural connections or other safety-critical uses, buyers should confirm the specification with their project engineer or technical team before ordering.

3. Define the Hot-Dip Galvanizing Requirement

“Hot-dip galvanized” should not be the only coating instruction in a purchase order. Buyers should identify the applicable coating specification and agree with the supplier on the relevant inspection requirements.

For threaded fasteners, recognized references include ASTM F2329/F2329M and ISO 10684. ASTM F2329/F2329M covers hot-dip zinc coatings on carbon and alloy steel bolts, screws, washers, nuts and special threaded fasteners. Its requirements include checks such as coating thickness, finish and appearance, embrittlement testing and adhesion testing.

ISO 10684 applies to hot-dip spun galvanized coatings on specified coarse-threaded steel fasteners, within the scope and size and property-class limits described by the standard. Buyers should confirm that the standard they request is suitable for the fastener type, dimensions and application.

When requesting a quotation, state the required standard and ask what inspection records the supplier can provide for the order.

4. Check Thread Fit Between Bolts and Nuts

A zinc coating adds material to the fastener surface. This makes thread fit an important point for hot-dip galvanized bolt-and-nut assemblies.

Buyers should confirm:

  • Whether bolts and nuts are supplied as a matched set
  • How the thread fit is controlled after galvanizing
  • Whether the nut thread or assembly fit follows the specified standard
  • How fit is checked during inspection

Avoid treating a nut that can be forced onto a bolt as acceptable. The assembly should meet the agreed specification and be suitable for installation in the intended application.

5. Ask What Quality Documents Are Available

Before confirming a bulk order, buyers should agree on the documents required for production release or shipment. Depending on the order and project, these may include:

  • Product inspection report
  • Mechanical test records
  • Coating inspection records
  • Material or mill certificates, when specified
  • Packing list and product identification details
  • Batch or lot traceability information

The exact documents available can vary by product and order. Buyers should list their requirements clearly at the quotation or purchase-order stage rather than assuming that every supplier provides the same package.

6. Confirm Packaging and Corrosion Protection During Transport

Even a correctly coated product can be affected by unsuitable storage or transport conditions. For bulk shipments, ask the supplier how the products will be packed, protected and identified.

Confirm:

  • Packaging type and quantity per package
  • Whether product labels show size, standard or batch information
  • How mixed sizes or grades are separated
  • Whether the packaging is appropriate for the planned shipping and storage conditions

Clear packaging specifications can make receiving, warehousing and project-site distribution easier.

7. Evaluate Bulk Supply Capability

A competitive unit price is useful, but a bulk buyer also needs confidence in the supplier’s ability to deliver the agreed product consistently.

Before placing an order, discuss:

  • Available standard sizes and product range
  • Minimum order quantity for regular products
  • Production lead time and shipment schedule
  • Monthly or repeat-order supply requirements
  • Quality-control process for each production lot
  • How order changes or quality issues are handled

If your requirement is for standard specifications in bulk, say so clearly when requesting a quotation. It helps suppliers assess the order accurately and avoids spending time on unsuitable small-quantity or custom-product inquiries.

A Practical Checklist for Buyers

Before confirming an order for hot-dip galvanized bolts and nuts, check that you have specified:

  • Product standard and type
  • Diameter, length and thread details
  • Bolt and nut property classes
  • Hot-dip galvanizing standard and inspection requirements
  • Bolt-and-nut thread fit
  • Required quality documents
  • Packaging and product identification
  • Order quantity and delivery schedule

The more clearly these points are defined, the easier it is to compare quotations on a like-for-like basis and reduce misunderstandings during production and delivery.
