1.Solving the "Nesting" & Warping Problem in the Zinc Bath
Fender washers present a unique galvanizing challenge. Because they have a large flat surface area but are relatively thin, dropping them into a 450°C (842°F) molten zinc bath often causes cheap steel to warp like a potato chip. Furthermore, the flat surfaces act like magnets in the molten zinc, causing the washers to stick together in clumps (nesting).
2.Pre-Galvanizing Clearance Sizing
Hot dip galvanizing adds significant thickness (up to 85μm) to the inner hole of the washer. If the hole is punched to standard dimensions, your galvanized bolt will not fit through.
